  • Musical Performance

    Wed 06 Feb 2013
Today some of the junior pupils visited the community centre to participate in a musical performance for a local community group - The Mothers' Union. It gave us the opportunity to say thank you to all the members of the Mothers' Union who support the school by regularly dedicating their time. The pupils sang beautifully and clearly enjoyed performing for a 'real' audience - their enjoyment was clear for all to see. The pupils were a credit to the school. Well done to you all.

A fund raising group from Year 5/6 organised a toy sale earlier this month. The money (£46.80) raised has been donated to the fund for the Flood Victims of St.Asaph. In addition we raised some additional money from cashing in unwanted clothes and lost property. This money was used to purchase a book for each of the flood victims from Ysgol Esgob Morgan in St. Asaph. We visited the school this morning to present the pupils with their gifts for all ay Ysgol Y Faenol.

  • Drop Off Point

    Wed 20 Jun 2012

Last year that Denbighshire County Council engaged in a Public Consultation Exercise aimed at investigating what measures could be introduced in Bodelwyddan to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists. Ysgol y Faenol’s School Travel Plan identified parking and congestion outside the school gates as a major safety issue. Further investigation by the Council’s Traffic Section also confirmed this as a significant problem centred on the junction between Johns Drive and Henry’s Avenue. It was further highlighted at the Public Exhibition as being a particular problem for the residents living in those areas.

As a result of the consultation, Denbighshire Council’s Traffic Section will be attempting to relieve some of that congestion thanks to grant funding from the Welsh Government’s Safe Routes In The Community initiative. As a result, the Council’s engineering contractor G.H. Lewis and Sons will be commencing work on the 5th November to create a ‘drop off’ and ‘pick up’ area on Abergele Road, adjacent to the Ysgol y Faenol school on land currently regarded as highway verge. I have been informed that the works are likely to take two weeks and some disruption to traffic flows on Abergele Road are likely to be experienced during the times when temporary traffic signals are in operation. During these times, the existing PUFFIN crossing will be switched off. To assist you and your children in crossing the road during these periods, the temporary signals which will be deployed will incorporate a pedestrian crossing capability and should be used as you would use the permanent PUFFIN crossing.

It is unlikely that the temporary signals will be required for the full two weeks of the construction period, however this is dependent upon the contractors programme. During the times when the temporary traffic signals are not in operation, the PUFFIN crossing may also be out of order. If this is the case, please ensure that you and your children take special care when crossing Abergele Road to the school.
