Welcome back and Happy New Year!
To begin our topic the learners were given a range of stimuli. Following this we discussed the areas we were interested in. We then ranked our top inquiry questions and have began our learning journey to find the answers to these. Our main inquiries were linked to where dragons come from and the stories behind them, the dragon on the Welsh flag and if there are dragons in the World today. Over the course of the term we will be covering all of these.
In line with our topic, our class book is 'Tell me a dragon' by Jackie Morris.
For homework please continue to complete reading books and reading records, Mangahigh and keep and eye out for our project based homework.
Home reading books need to be returned to school each Friday for us to monitor and change please.
Can PE kits please be left in school and I will send them home at the end of every half term.
This Term's Project Theme-
Up, Up and Away!
(Autumn Term 2019)
After mind-mapping the theme, the children have shown interest in animals that fly particularly. They wanted to know more about owls so I have chosen the text "The Owl Who Was Afraid Of The Dark" as our literacy text.
They also would like to know more about insects and bugs that fly so I have arranged a trip to Pili Palas.
We will be looking at light and dark in Science and technology, Hannukah light Jewish festival in RE, the Gunpowder Plot in Humanities and lots of other learning pathways that the children have brought up during discussions and questioning.
We will be keeping a log of all of these pathways on our planning wall in class.
