School Council

 

 

 

Hello and welcome to our school council page.

 

A school council can benefit a school by  making sure students needs are heard and understood, it gives a greater understanding between staff and pupils, we have positive participation making confident empowered pupils, children's rights are being met and children become active citizens.  

 

    Our school council has :-

  • Elections and secret ballots.
  • At least six council meetings per year.
  • School council meetings are supervised by an adult.
  • An agenda and minutes of meetings.
  • An understanding that they represent the best interests of every pupil, and the school.   
  • An understanding of their role in the school council.
  • Pupil pop-in sessions.

We also have link councillors who attend meetings and link back to the council and the school updating and informing us of events, these are -

Eco matters - Tilly, Sydney

School Effectiveness - Olivia, Elin

Pupil Governors - Sydney, Caleb

Finance - Fay

Our council also run mentoring groups for new councillors.

 

Pupil Voice.

Ysgol Y Faenol also has Pupil Voice which is run by our Reception class and a member of staff for support. The class give us their opinions, fill out questionnaires, have meetings where their views and ideas are taken and matter to us in the life of our school.

 

School council upcoming events.

Super Ambassadors event 18th October with Sally Holland The Childrens Commissioner for Wales.

Meeting with Police Liason.

Children in Need.

Helping to organise a School Disco and Christmas Fair. All proceeds were spent on some new Chrome Books for all the school to use.

Meeting with Bodelwyddan Allotments Group 3rd February 2017. Thank you to Charles and Kate for their visit, and for helping us with our project.

Recycling - Thank you to everyone for helping us to collect 1 ton of plastic waste, this will be taken to be recycled at our local Bodelwyddan site.

 

 

 

The School Council will also be organising some competitions in school, so watch this space for more information and dates!

Children in need competition.

Comic Relief- Red Nose Day. Design a red nose for a chance to win a nose. Please bring entries back by 23rd March.
