ESDGC

Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship.

What is ESDGC?
Education for sustainable development and global citizenship is about enabling pupils to develop the knowledge, values and skills to participate in decisions about the way we do things individually and collectively, both locally and globally, that will improve the quality of life now and without damaging the planet for the future and it enables them to understand the global forces that shape our lives it will equip them to promote a more sustainable world and teaches them that their choices in life matter and they matter.

The seven key themes in ESDGC are-
Identity and culture.
Wealth and poverty.
Climate change.
Health.
Consumption and waste.
Choices and decisions.
Natural environment.

In school the children have been working not only hard in classes learning how to be a good global citizen but have been a part of enhanced learning projects some of which are Water, Climate Change, Fairtrade, Our Health and Healthy Living, People Who Help Us, Re-cycling, Poverty and Wealth, Children and Human Rights and Our Environment.
We have also enjoyed celebrating International Days with visitors coming to school to teach us Chinese dance, a Welsh artist came to do some environmental art, a representative from Europe Direct came to teach us about other countries to name but a few.  We have also enjoyed some school trips to the Alwen Centre to help us with our water project and in Bodelwyddan Castle where we were chosen to take part in some tree planting.
